Our Mission

Operating since 1972, the Manitowish Waters Alliance Foundation is proud to continue to provide the structure for creating social connections that support a strong, growing community.  Generations of families from Manitowish Waters and nearby communities have been, and still are, represented in our membership ranks. 

Through membership dues, multiple fundraising events and the efforts of member/volunteers throughout each year, the Alliance is able to contribute funding and support to valuable community causes, groups, families and individuals.  Each year, the Alliance Foundation conducts fundraising events to be able to provide monetary donations to Camp Jorn Child Care, the Manitowish Waters Skiing-Skeeters, the Manitowish Waters Fire Department, the GROW! Community Garden, the Koller Library, the Manito Art League, the Discovery Center, WinMan Trails, and other groups, "neighbor" individuals and families in need.

And our members know how to celebrate our accomplishments!  Each year in July, our annual Member Summer Social event serves up fun, food, libations, and comaraderie.  New and current members, alike, continue to comment that this gathering is one of the best community events of the year to get to know their neighbors and others in the area.

And to wrap up each incredible year, on the first Saturday evening of December the “Annual Mani-Wish Christmas Event” is held at the Little Bohemia Lodge to raise money to help give some local children and families a Very Merry Christmas.  In the Alliance’s entire 50+ year history, we believe this SOLD OUT event is the most successful event - by any measure used - whether participants, sponsors, donors, volunteers or money raised!  With this success, we are able to touch many individuals with gifts Christmas toys, clothing, a full dinner, and other items these families need.
