Letter from your President,

Doug Zeise

- November, 2020

Dear Supporter of the MW Alliance Foundation,

As 2020 draws to a close, I would like to share my reflections on what was a very unusual year for all of us, and specifically, what the Alliance Foundation was able to accomplish during this challenging period.

In the 49 years since its founding in 1972, the Manitowish Waters Alliance has focused on providing the structure for creating social connections that continue to support a strong, growing community.

Achieving success in each of our three Mission focus areas often comes down to accomplishing two objectives - member satisfaction and growth, which results in:

  • motivated members willing to donate their time, talent, and/or dollars and "spread the word" about our organization

  • meaningful funds to spend on initiatives that align with our community-based Mission

  • positive publicity that brings attention to our organization and our cause

  • influence to relevantly engage with other local organizations and Town government on opportunities for change or on important issues

Through membership dues, multiple fundraising events, and the efforts of member/ volunteers throughout each year, we are able to contribute funding and support to valuable community causes and groups.

So far in 2020 through your unwavering support, the Alliance Foundation has made monetary donations to Camp Jorn Child Care, Solstice Fest, the Manitowish Waters Skiing-Skeeters, the Manitowish Waters Fire Department, the GROW! Community Garden, Walleyes for Tomorrow, and the WinMan Trails.

And our members know how to celebrate our accomplishments!

Once again this year in July, the "Alliance Summer Social" event served up fun, food, and libations to its members and guests in a "socially distanced" and safe manner - via DINE IN or TAKE OUT options.

New and current members, alike, continue to comment that this gathering is one of the best community events of the year to get to know their neighbors and others in the area.

We are also very proud to announce that, despite a challenging year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been able to safely and successfully conduct all the events we had planned!

And the show goes on for our final event this year!

On the evening of Saturday, December 5th, the

“2nd Annual Mani-Wish Christmas Event”

will once again be held at the Little Bohemia Lodge & Restaurant to raise money to help give some local families a very Merry Christmas

Please watch your email for further information as the "IN PERSON" format of this years event will be changing slightly to follow COVID protocols for social distancing and building capacity.

And we respect if you are not able to attend - we are currently looking into an easy way you'll be able to participate in the raffles, festivities, and fundraising "VIRTUALLY" on our website from the comfort of your home.

In the Alliance’s entire history, we believe last year's inaugural event was one of our most successful events - by any measure used - whether participants, sponsors, donors, volunteers, or money raised!  With this success, we were able to provide 26 local children with Christmas Gifts and 3 families with toys, clothing, Christmas dinner, and gas cards.

Our goal is to surpass last year’s incredible results.  This year WE KNOW we can raise 10% more.  Let's reach $10,000 in 2020!

Over $9,000 raised in one evening!

December, 2019

We believe our "Mani-Wish Christmas" event must be held as there are more families with children in need this year than ever before.

Whether you donate time, talent, or treasure to this event, it all makes a BIG difference!  Our organization has over 300 individual members.  Imagine what we can accomplish if we each give a little!

 Saturday, December 5th - 5pm until ?

Thank you very much and I look forward to seeing you soon.
